HOPE for Autism is described as a ‘life-line’ by families affected by Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) in North Lanarkshire.
This registered charity was set up in 2002 by four mothers whose children were diagnosed as having autism and who couldn’t find local help.
In January 2002, the group was able to set up a
monthly support group for parents and carers. We are now running successful and fun activities for children and young people over 6 days a week.
Thanks to the Big Lottery, HOPE has funding until 2012 and presently employs three members of staff to help further develop the organisations' activities even further.
With increasing representation in the area now totalling about 150 families, demand for our services are extremely high: children are on a waiting list to access our services as HOPE is in fact the only post-diagnosis service in North Lanarkshire.
